WFH: Skincare and Makeup Essentials

It's known what a little skincare and make up can do for us in a normal-life context; Nevertheless, it was unexpected what our beauty routine would look like in the hypothetical case of not leaving home during a long period of time.

The good part is that we figured out how much we do to show off (not that there's anything wrong with that) and how much time we actually put on ourselves just for the sake of a self love/care routine. Some of us are quarantining with a partner, some of us are going solo; But none of us can deny we need a little help to feel awake and productive, healthy minded and young hearted.

For example, a work from home routine doesen't demand us to look all made up and wearing our latest red lipstick for a Zoom conference, BUT, at least we can make an effort to look like we stepped in the shower and gave our skin and hair a little extra time.

SKINCARE

Always start your day with a good clean canvas, this may benefit any skin type so make sure you know what's yours. A good cleanser and gente exfoliant helps maintain pores unclogged and removes those little dry patches. Luke warm water is soothing and helps a deep cleanse; A good toner helps shrinking the pores and gives the skin tightness (alcohol is not recommended in a toner).

Hidration is key, not only because it makes a good base for furthur make up application but, it protects skin from outside pollution and keeps it from losing moisture and looking dull throughout the day (plus, the longterm benefits of a good cream's rich ingredients).

MAKE UP

There is a lot we can get away with a small amount of make-up. Having a flawless base can actually make us look healthy and awake. A seamless foundation is a first step to even out any discoloration or imperfections. A good make-up basic kit is a long term investment (besides wearing sunscreen on a daily basis!). A natural-ish creamy eye shadow with a peach or champagne glow can make your eyes pop without the blending dificulties.

contour powder is perfect for an everyday look, you can built up your contour or just use it to define your face features and give your cheeks a little dimension and some warmth. Combine it with a bright blush in the apple of the cheeks, to have a sunkissed healthy look. Blush can be a complete game changer and add life all by its own (this can be achieved with a lipstick or a powder blush).

A lip tint, balm or really soft lipstick can give your lips a little contrast; "Your lips but better" shades are always options that favours any skin color and keeps the makeup natural. A defined, polished and brushed brow can frame your face instantly and make you look more put together.

HAIR

Taking care of your hair during quarantine is hard, we feel tempted to let our hair go or just keep it up in a ponytail. Take the extra time to try new treatments, find a routine that works for you; Hair is a living fiber and can't be neglected. A healthy scalp promotes growth and gives us an overall glow.

Easy hairstyling can get you through an unexpected zoom conference. Beachy "undone" waves always look fresh and young; Having good hair tools are also a long time investment. Looks may vary; You don't have to be full on straight hair or curled up; the secret is to look put together but not made up.

NIGHT TIME ROUTINE

Always remember to cleanse your face before sleeping, try a good nutritious mask while reading your favourite book. A good vitamin serum like the one is a must have for an adult skincare; We are all dealing with past spots, imperfections or hyperpigmentation and wouldnt kill us to make our skin a little tighter and brighter.
